What leads you to procrastinate, we believe, is a systemic problem that can’t be boiled down to “laziness” or a lack of motivation. Frequently, it’s driven by forces that are out of our control like ADHD or anxiety. Our coaching services are designed to get at the root of these deeply entrenched mental patterns, helping clients to regain focus.Because our coaching supports those struggling with mental health issues, Slothzero coaching can often qualify as a reimbursable medical expense through a flexible spending account (FSA) or Health savings account (HSA), provided that the client has the right documentation.
Here’s how it works.
First of all, what are flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts? In case you’re not familiar, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are special accounts that let individuals set aside pre-tax money to pay for eligible medical expenses. With an FSA, funds are typically offered through an employer, and they can be used to pay for medical expenses like doctor visits, prescriptions, therapy, and other approved healthcare costs. They can also cover child dependents. Unused FSAs funds at the end of the plan year generally go back to your employer unless they offer a carryover option. An HSA, on the other hand, is available only to people enrolled in a high-deductible health plan (HDHP). HSAs offer more flexibility because the funds roll over year after year, and the account stays with you even if you change jobs or retire. You can also invest the money, allowing it to grow tax-free over time. Both FSAs and HSAs provide a triple tax advantage: contributions are tax-free, withdrawals for qualified medical expenses are tax-free, and (for HSAs) any investment growth is also tax-free. Together, these accounts allow you to take greater control of your healthcare spending while saving money on taxes.
Finally, how can you get Slothzero covered by an FSA or an HSA?
The first step is to consult your doctor or mental health care provider and discuss whether coaching can qualify as a part of your treatment plan. If your doctor agrees, they will write a formal letter detailing why coaching is medically necessary for your condition, which is called an LMN or Letter of Medical Necessity. Next, you’ll pay for Slothzero services as normal, but make sure you keep the receipts. Once you have a number of receipts along with your LMN, submit them to your FSA/HSA provider to be reimbursed. Because procrastination and focus challenges often stem from deeper mental health factors, Slothzero coaching provides structured, evidence-based support to help you make lasting progress. By using an FSA or HSA, you can make this investment in your well-being more affordable.
